For 18 years, Charles R. Miller owned and operated a successful commercial electrical contracting company (Lighthouse Electric Co., Inc.) in Nashville, Tennessee. Now an accomplished author and educator, Mr. Miller specializes in leading customized seminars on the National Electrical Code (NEC), as well as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E. Class and seminar attendees have included individuals employed by companies such as Ford, A. O. Smith, The Aerostructures Corporation, and academic institutions such as Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, and Purdue University. Besides teaching his own custom seminars, Mr. Miller teaches for the NFPA. The book doesn't really explain the requirements in the 2014 ...

The book doesn't really explain the requirements in the 2014 NEC for AFCI protection. If you look for the requirements, you can find some references, but, for example, the 2014 NEC requires a dishwasher, hardwired or not, to have AFCI protection. That isn't noted in the section about kitchens, the brief section about dishwashers, or in the general section about AFCI. I'm sure if someone dug deeper, he or she could find many more omissions.

It makes me not want to rely on this, and it is supposed to be a reference.

Worth the $$$$$

Not cheap, but provides a useful tool for added comprehension of the Code, and helps drive home the fact that any given issue is typically addressed by several disparate sections of the Code. The illustrations are handy as an aid in quickly understanding and reviewing the material. I bought it as a study guide for an inspector exam, and found it quite useful for that purpose. I think it'll be handy in explaining the code to others, as well.

This is an excellent compliment to the new NEC code book. However, each section t could have gone into greater detail. There could have been a complete book for residential, one for commercial, and one for Special locations.

John is the founder of the Academic Life Coaching Program.� He has also written for Newsweek and published the book Future-Proofed: Your Guide to Acing High School, the College Application and Beyond. You see, Christian Cayne isn’t just some guy I almost ran down on my first day here and later fell in love with. I wish it were that simple. It would make what’s gotta happen now easier. Christian is a lot of things to a lot of people since he landed here with his dad at the end of the summer, but in a couple of months, he’s going to have to be one thing only to me. My step-brother.

Loved this.

When I first read the blurb I was sold. When I read the Prologue I was already in love with this story.

From the start you know that Emery and Christian are going to meet, fall in love, and then have their lives turned upside down when they realize they are soon to become step siblings. I mean, we learn that from the Prologue, but knowing that's what's going to happen and actually experiencing it as it all unfolds is quite another. Written beautiful here is a story of two souls meant to be together. We watch it happen slowly, not rushed, and while this is happening I almost forgot that trouble was on the horizon because it all seemed so perfect - so meant to be. So, when the time came for it all to come crashing down I was pissed. I was pissed and heartbroken and just so...sad.

But you know what? I was also happy to see that while Emery was trying to make her mom happy, at the risk of breaking her own heart, Christian wasn't going down without a fight. He stood tall, demanded that the people in their life listen to him. He proved his love over and over again.

It was incredible to witness a young man fight for what's right - fight for what's his. It was also incredible to witness how his father was on his side through it all. The father-son dynamic was written with such care that I didn't feel like I was watching from the sidelines. I felt like I was right there - in this battle with them - ready to take up arms so Christian and Emery could be together.

Needless to say, I appreciate a story that delves deep, gets you by the heart and holds on until the end. And I always get that with Melyssa's books. I knew when I started it would be an emotional ride. And I was right. And I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

When I first read the blurb for this book I was completely sold. I had to read it. A step brother romance with a twist? Sign me up. Then I read the prologue and needed more. I was hooked, I needed to know how these two characters came to fall in love and how it all came crashing down. This is a story of young love but a love that is so real and I loved it.

It’s senior year for Emery, the sassy girl who would rather take pictures and play her guitar than hang out with anyone from her school. Then she literally crashed into the new boy, Christian Cayne and everything changed. They became the best of friends. In the beginning they may have fought the feelings that they had for each other but as time went on they finally admitted to their feelings and they took their friendship a step further. Until they find out that their parents have been dating and are getting married causing their world to be flipped upside down. Emery wants to make her mother happy and therefore pushes Christian away. But Christian will do everything he can to fight for his girl. But will it be enough?

I loved this book and these characters. Christian had lost his mother a few yers back and seemed to be losing his dad as well. Since his mother’s death his father has basically thrown himself into work. When Christian meets Emery she brings out something in him that hasn’t been there for a long time. He starts to feel like the boy that he once was. He fell for her hard so when their parents upcoming nuptials threatens their relationship he will do everything to fight for his love. And that is one of the many things that I loved about him. Emery is willing to sacrifice her own happiness for her mother’s which I totally understood but at the same time my heart hurt for her because of it. I understood her mother’s issues but I just didn’t agree with them and quite frankly wasn't a big fan of hers.

Christian and Emery were soul mates,. They were meant to be together. And I know some may say that they are so young, how can you possibly know what true love is at that young age. But I will say that I myself do believe in true love even at the age of eighteen. Maybe it’s because I have bEen with my husband for 23 years, basically since we were 18 years old. So I know when you find the one you don’t wan to let go no matter what age you are. And that is what I loved about this story. These two were only 18 years old but they knew that they belonged together. Their love was true and real and a kind of love that people dream of having. I was rooting for these two all the way. I wanted her mother to understand how strong and real their love was. I wanted Emery to realize that when you find your one true love you never give up no matter who wants you to. You fight for your love and happiness. And thank god for Christian and his father who I had so much respect for. He was an amazing man who loved his son and wanted the best for him. And to be honest I think I may have fallen in love with him...lol

The Space in Between is a beautiful story of young love. But it is also about sacrifices and doing what makes you happy. This story really captured me from the very beginning until the very end. I fell in love with these characters and wanted them to find their happiness. The end was simply perfect. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Christian & Emery are the perfect song

Christian and Emery's story is sweet, funny, heartbreaking and romantic. It's a story about falling in love, trust and forgiveness and overall believing in the power of love.

Christian is the new guy at Emery's school and they „bump“ into each other the first day of their senior year. Emery is this sassy girl who is happiest taking picures with her camera.

„I didn't catch your name!“
„That was sort of the point!“ She calls back laughing. „Takes a lot more than getting knocked on my ass to get my name!“

Falling in love is a first for both of them and because of their pasts, both Christian and Emery struggle to accept their feelings in the beginning but once they do, it's beautiful.

„I'm starting to think that nothing about us is random.“

„The way Christian looks at me, it's the same as I do him. We're perfectly imperfect.“

Woven in between the space of Christian and Emerys journey is a sweet second chance lovestory and with it comes the heartbreak.

„Christian was supposed to be my reward for being smart and doing things differently. Not my biggest nightmare.“

I was so angry at the person causing them this heartbreak and so sad for the Emery, who felt the need to sacrifice her own happiness, and Christian because he couldn't change Emery's mind.

Brilliant

Wow, what can I say? Brilliant! Really simplified version of other Pickup Artist books. There is great stuff here with a lot of the essential info on how to shift gears during the Game. As an "amateur" PUA, I've read quite a few of the pickup artist books and this one really stands out for its simplicity. This book really shows how to break down each interaction, how to determine when to shift gears into the various stages, and how we can do so. There is no fluff unlike some of the other Mystery 'method' books where the author tries to come off as some kind of expert in human evolution. There is very little theory and the focus is more on action. This is hands down the most concise explanation of the Game I have seen. Every single chapter lays out the whole concept in very linear, to the point, easy to understand fashion. From what little I know of other types of methods, it seems like the base theories of attraction laid out in this book are fairly universal, and could be applied to other methods as well. For that matter, even if you don't use ANY type of method per se, I feel that this will still give you a valuable insight on how attraction works for women. My over-all assessment of this book is that it is well worth the money. If you are like myself, you have read more information than your brain can absorb, and are looking for something to put all that information into clear terms, then the Pickup Artists Secrets is a great resource to have.

Best book for any aspiring PUA

I have read a number of Pickup Artist's books and my opinion is that this is an ideal book for any aspiring Pickup Artist (PUA). This book has simplified the different parts of the Game in such a way that any young aspiring PUA will find it really helpful. It is not a book which is going to make you a mPUA (master PUA), and it does not claim to do so, but it does live up to its promise as the essential guide for the beginners. Some of the other well know PUA books are written by Mystery and Neil Strauss, but unfortunately they are not suited for the beginners. In fact, most of these books are so complicated that they will only confuse the 'newbies'. My suggestion to every beginner is to read this book first and then build up on your knowledge by reading more complicated stuff. Unless you learn the alphabets first, you will never be able to read Shakespeare or Milton.

Although this is supposedly a specialty book, it provides good advice on how to present oneself in any social situation: be physically presentable, be positive, have a variety of creative things to say, keep it light, learn how to banter, use humor, when you recognize a bad fit - gracefully move on, develop subtle ways (and direct, if necessary) to bring down the other person, learn body language - in other words - how to be an interesting, respectful, and respected person that people want to be around.

But it is a book with a specific purpose. I am married and out of the game but I'm not dead. It's hard to see the cover and not pick up this book. On its purpose, I would say it succeeds. It's short and gives clear though sometimes conflicting advice. Since any guy is going to adapt whatever is gleaned from a book to his own personality, and since humans have a limited capacity to remember more than a few points from any presentation, this is plenty for a good start.

Social interaction, particularly sexual conflict, is what many scientists think caused evolution to develop our big brains. Women have a million times (OK, a thousand) more investment in the sex act than men because they may be buying 20& years worth of responsibility. For the caveman, it's a few minutes of ecstacy. For the cavewoman, it's the whole package of whether the man is going to be there for the duration. Nowadays, with all sorts of ways to deal with pregnancy issues and with many women capable of supporting themselves financially, the woman doesn't have to have these worries - but that doesn't do away with hundreds of thousands of years worth of brain connections and cultural mores. Therefore, the game continues.

The book goes into detail about how to treat a woman in order to get her in bed. Many (certainly not all) of the techniques would be validated by a marriage counsellor, friend-advisor, romance novelist, or even a mother. But the end game is indeed getting her in bed; the book's recommendation is to bed as many women as possible; and it doesn't tell you what to do with them once you've had success - except to make sure they don't have your phone number.

Of course the other side of the coin is that as much as men connive to get women in bed under false pretenses, many women connive to get a ring without owning up to their end goal. Whereas they might say they're looking for a man with a sense of humor who wants to have fun, etc., many are really looking for a package that includes much more...and the game goes on.

Dated, But Still Informative Book on Detective Novels

First published in 1941, then enlarged in 1951, Howard Haycraft's 'Murder for Pleasure' is one of the earliest books that took the detective novel seriouly, examining the major and minor works of the genre. It must be said that the book looks often terribly dated in several places, and readers living in the 21st century can read excellent 'Bloody Murder' by Julian Symons or 'The Perfect Murder' by David Lehman, but still 'Murder for Pleasure' gives precious information about the genre and occasional insights.

From the time of Poe, Howard Haycraft traces the history of detective novel mainly in England, America, and France (the last not much). As Haycraft covers only up until 1941, the names of the authors Haycraft mentions look often a little too selective, or too classic now. In this book Agatha Christie is already given a due recognition, but Eric Ambler and Nicholas Blake are still newcomers, and you barely hear the works of one William Irish.

Instead, you can find the titles of the books, or the names of the mystery writers that are forgotten today. For example, Haycraft praises one detective series featuring Uncle Abner and its creator Melville Davisson Post (1871-1930), giving more than three pages to Post's works. For today's readers, Haycraft's judgement that no one is a true connoisseuer of detective novel without reading all the Uncle Abner stories sounds very hasty.

But the differences of taste and writing style becomes exactly the fun of reading this book, because 'Murder for Pleasure' records many minor, now forgotten writers of the genre. The 'quiz' section and others are interesting, but slightly look irrelevant (Who is Prof. S.F.X.Van Dusen?), the book is clearly written by the hand of a man who really loves detective novels, and his enthusiastic sentences reveal that fact.

Haycraft's voice is not that of scholar, but of a devoted fan of detective novels. As if to show his origin, he generously gives tips for aspiring writers, like advice about how to negotiate the publishers (no acadamics would write like that). And like any avid fans, he worries too much about the definition of 'detective novels' -- for Haycraft, it seems, such storytelling method as used in popular TV series 'Columbo' or criminal's viewpoint is strictly experimental.

The book itself offers no fresh perspectives, but as bibliographical source of detective genre 'Murder for Pleasure' contains still precious information that is hard to find elsewhere.
